Gotta love the Fraser. A good sturgeon here is a small one out there. Wanted to go out this spring but weather and buddies work schedule didn't allow it to happen.

Here's one of those prehistoric critters I caught in early April near Chilliwack in the Fraser River when I was out there for a month in the spring. This one was about 5-1/2' which was in the size grouping of all 11 that we caught on this guided trip.

Google says they are just wires to connect to other Garmin units to share the data(I assume to run multiple units off same transducer etc). Doesn't appear you would need them.

May I ask how you have your Fish Finder set up? I'm about to start that project.

Fish finder is a Lowrance Elite Ti 7 with totalscan transducer. The transducer is mounted to the Hobie Lowrance ready mounting area using their totalscan adaptor plate. Batter sits in front hatch and wires are run from battery and transducer to where the base is then through a Hobie thru hull wiring kit.

The fish finder head is mounted to a Scotty fish finder mount which goes into a Scotty gear head extender mount which attaches to a flush mount I added to my side rail. I like this system because it gives me a bunch of adjustment to put fish finder wherever I want and it allows me to swing the fish finder out of the way easily.

As you can also see I modified my gear head extender mount slightly by adding a longer bolt and attaching a second gear head mount at the base which I mount my downrigger on(Scotty Laketroller).

Who else had a good May Long Weekend?

I started the weekend off with an overnight trip on the river. Found a nice hole anchored up the kayak and tried to sleep a bit although it was surprisingly cold when the fog settled in(thankfully was wearing my drysuit). Ended up catching 7 sturgeon although the biggest was only 3 ft and a bunch of small walleye.

Then I headed up to Cold Lake on Saturday. It was a nice day but fairly breezy so I played around in the back bays looking for walleye and pike most of the day. Found a few pike but wasn't having too much luck so headed out and stumbled on this chunky 31.5 inch laker.

The forecast was for more wind Sunday and I didn't feel like fighting it again so decided to go try a new lake. Ended up finding a few decent walleye and a bunch of pike, best being a 25 inch walleye and 33.5 inch pike.

Overall it was a pretty good weekend, you know it is when you come back more tired then when the weekend started and your knuckles are all skinned up from handling fish lol.

Hi folks, about to build my battery box for my new fish finder. The Garmin Striker 5cv power cable has your your standard Red and Black cable but the 5CV also has a Blue and Brown wire (Data Sharing Cable)... What is that and do I need it?

Thank You
